Seeking 2023 Vonnegut House Artist in Residencee

The Vonnegut House is seeking 2023 candidates for residencies. they receive 10 days in the house in exchange for 3 acts of community in Culver, perhaps a show, lecture or training.

You will receive 9 nights of mutual agreeement this spring and we would hope for a final exebition of some work at the house as our final exhibit but we are open to any and all idaeas.

Last but not least, we will want one exapmple of your work to keep in the house! it can be produced in residence no problem. There have been at least 3 prior reidencies with 4 artist and we have room for up to 3 in the house if a group applies and wins.

Jeffrey Baumgartner: Artist In Resdience at the Vonnegut House 2022

Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding by our planned Artist , we are pleased to announce that Jeffery Baumgartner is in the house now for a week to be our 2022 Artist in Residence. We realy apprecaite him coming in on very short notice, and we hope he has a relaxing, and productive time at the house and exploring Culver.

As noted Below, Mr. Baumgartner will be hosting a Reception with his art displayed at the house this Tuesday from 5 until 7. All are Welcome!

Sometimes we get complaints.. it’s too hot.. while the new part of the house has a geothermal system that can cool down hades, the old original side does not, and we can’t turn down the outside.. it’s a fairly regular thing now.

We aren’t obtuse to global warming.. in fact, we try to run the house with a deep awareness of it. It’s why we have a lot of tres, not much stone, reflective paint and cedar roofing. We hope someplace in our managerial hearts that if we make some good karmic choices, the jet stream will stay south and take care of turning down the outside for us.

However there is always more we can do, and we hope this is a reasonable next step of business, hospitality and humanity:

We have a NEMA 14-50 plug, 50 amps of 240 so that the average car will gain @ 20 miles of range per hour. We don’t have a charger, we have a plug on the wall, but a lot of cars now have onboard chargers, all Tesla’s allegedly do.

If this goes well, we have fuse box and wiring for one more, just need to add a box.. so if someone wants to throw a Tesla party, we’ll add another box.
